Advanced Equipment Corporation installed a 1,737 SF dual-system operable partition installation at Margaret Mead Elementary School in Sammamish, Washington, designed by BLRB Architects and completed in 2019. The project features both electric and manual operation to serve the school's varied spaces — from the gymnasium to classrooms and the music/performance room.
The electric system uses continuously hinged SIGMA 'E' panels on a #8B track, providing smooth bi-parting operation in the gymnasium that allows the space to open into the adjacent commons area for assemblies, events, and large gatherings. The two-tone finish — grey fabric upper and tan/vinyl lower — is durable and purpose-built for high-traffic educational environments.
The manual system uses SIGMA 'E' panels on a #1 track in the classrooms and music room, with a multi-finish approach including P-Lam, markerboard, carpet, and vinyl. The markerboard panels in the music room double as an interactive teaching surface, maximizing utility in every square foot of the installation.
